Project Overview

The existing slab and adjacent building were designed as a commercial loading dock. Floor Seal Technology was tasked with transforming a cracked, unleveled, and not-so-flat concrete slab into a sport court. The first step in the process was to blast the concrete to remove small areas of old epoxy paint and then clean the slab of contamination. We profiled it for our FST MES100 moisture sealer primer with a sand aggregate. Next, our waterproofing system was applied with additional patching to fill in low spots and level the slab. Finally, the court was resurfaced with 3 amazing colors and court lines. The client opted for two 3-point lines, an NBA 3-point, and a high school 3-point line. The final colors chosen were black for the border, grey for the body, and red for the free throw area. A custom logo was placed in the center of the court to bring it all together.

Edward’s employees are excited to have a sport court they can play on without getting hurt. The previous sport court was a connect system consisting of 1-foot by 1-foot plastic squares and painted lines. This type of flooring was slippery in the morning. If you slipped on the previous court, your arms and legs would get shredded. Our new sport court floor will give the players added slip resistance. The quartz added to the final coat provides friction and a gradual slope toward the drains allows the morning dew to run off the court.
